ECBA Resolution Opposing the Newly Amended Version of S4510/A5761

In early summer, the ECBA authorized formal opposition to pending legislation that would dramatically revise the New Jersey custody statute.  The ECBA was part of numerous professional organizations opposing the proposed change, including the NJSBA, many other county bars, and family law groups such as the AAML, and AFCC.

While it was believed a revised bill had been brokered that was acceptable to all parties, the legislature has again dramatically revised the bill and is attempting to race it through to a vote.  ECBA President Carmen Diaz and many other family lawyers from the NJSBA, AAML, county bars and AFCC testified last week against the legislation in Trenton. The ECBA has also passed the attached Resolution and will be publicizing it in order to make our opposition to the legislation known.   https://acrobat.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:US:3d048a6f-81a0-410f-9e24-0df2fa78d2aa
