About the Essex County Bar Foundation

The Essex County Bar Foundation was established with the express purposes of:

Promoting the study of the law and research and the continuing education of lawyers;
Fostering and maintaining the honor and integrity of the profession of the law and furthering the science of jurisprudence;
Studying, improving and facilitating the administration of justice;
Publishing and distributing legal literature and acquiring, preserving and exhibiting items of historical interest having legal significance or bearing upon the administration of justice; and
Promoting suitable standards of legal education.

The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation that derives virtually all its funding from direct contributions from individual ECBA lawyers, area law firms, and other organizations, vendors and legal service providers in the legal arena.

ECBF Memorial Scholarship
Make a Donation or Establish an Endowment

The Essex County Bar Foundation invites you to help support deserving law students in Essex County by establishing an endowment or donating to the Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The ECBF welcomes gifts and bequests of any amount designated for the Scholarship Program. A gift of $10,000 or more will establish an endowment in the name of the donor and grants made from these funds will carry the name of the donor to the extent of the gift.

The ECBF supports programs that:

Provide legal services to individuals of limited resources.

Provide scholarships based on financial need to students at area law schools.

Educate the public about the legal system.

Contribute to the improvement of the legal system and the administration of justice.

Essex County Mock Trial Competition

An annual county-wide competition for high school mock trial teams.
