Completed scholarship applications for the 2025-2026 cycle must be submitted to the ECBA either through the ECBA website or via email to
execdirector@essexbar.com by February 1, 2026. The Memorial Scholarship Committee will review all applications and scholarship recipients will be notified by April 1st
Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
The ECBA will award the scholarships at its Annual Installation and Awards Reception on April 27, 2026. Recipients will receive one complimentary ticket to the ceremony and are required to attend unless approved by the Scholarship Committee.
Applicants must be residents of Essex County and accepted and enrolled in an ABA accredited law school. Proof of Essex County residency can include utilities, driver’s license, rental agreement.
The Memorial Scholarship Committee will consider financial need, scholastic achievements, law school and community activities, engagement with Essex County and prior receipt of award. All awards are made and distributed at the discretion of the Memorial Scholarship Committee of the Essex County Bar Foundation. Scholarships will be awarded on an objective and non discriminatory basis with regard to race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, or sexual identity.
By signing and submitting this application, the applicant certifies that all information provided to the ECBF is true and accurate. If any statement or information is deemed to be false, the applicant will be disqualified from further consideration and may be subject to the return of any scholarship award received.
In addition any applicant who receives an award gives the ECBF consent to publish name and photo on the ECBF website and other social media, in its event journal and other materials that promote the ECBF scholarship programs and initiatives.
The Essex County Bar Foundation invites you to help us support deserving law students in Essex County by establishing an endowment.
The ECBF welcomes gifts and bequests of any amount designated for the Scholarship Program, however a gift of $10,000 or more will establish an endowment in the name of the donor and grants made from these funds will carry the name of the donor to the extent of the gift.
Gifts to the ECBF are tax-deductible to the maximum extent allowed by law. The foundation accepts gifts of cash, appreciated securities., retirement fund assets, real estate and life insurance proceeds. Each year, the growth of your endowment is used in the Scholarship Programs award process.
