Built on a foundation of collegiality, the ECBA was launched at a meeting in 1879 in the heart of Essex County and our current home, the City of Newark. More than 125 years later, the ECBA continues to attract a diverse network of legal professionals who recognize the value of belonging to New Jersey’s oldest county legal network.
With over a dozen substantive law committees, members gain the added benefit of networking with colleagues at a variety of educational and social events throughout the year where the focus is on learning, networking and sharing. ECBA members represent solo practitioners as well as small, medium and large firms in Essex County, surrounding New Jersey counties and even in neighboring states such as New York and Pennsylvania. Our members come from diverse cultural groups, a broad generational spectrum, including a highly active Young Lawyers Section. We are proud of our strong relationships with our state and federal judiciary, the local law school community and other legal and community organizations.
