About the Role
One full-time assistants needed to work in a fast-paced personal injury department. Translating letters/documents and translate for preparation of deposition for Spanish speaking clients is a key responsibility. This position requires at least 1-3 years of legal assistant experience in a law firm, preferably in personal injury.
Responsibilities:
• Filing
• Interpreting (If Spanish or Portuguese speaking)
• Sec Mail – (filling out PIP forms, sending PIP forms or medical bills to clients or Insurance Companies, scheduling and advising clients of Plaintiff /Defense Medical examinations, sending HIPAA authorizations to clients to sign and sending them to defense attorney or insurance when we get them back, sending back Extension of time to Answer and Consent)
• Follow up with court on Lack of Prosecution notices
• Advising clients of deposition dates and scheduling or cross-noticing Defendants for depositions
• Entering any deposition or changes to deposition into attorney calendar
• Doing initial intakes over phone for new cases and entering initial information into Practice Master and Casepeer and doing initial conflict search
• Preparing check requests once you double check in Tabs that invoice has not yet been paid, and any follow ups any one of the attorneys may have and helping out with any Philips dictations if needed
Qualifications:
At least 1-3 years of legal assistant experience in a law firm, preferably in personal injury.
Required Skills:
• Legal assistant experience
• Translation skills for Spanish speaking clients
Preferred Skills:
• Experience in personal injury law
• Proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese
